Digital Citizenship was launched in 2017 as an initiative by Emna Mizouni to address the need to discuss online GBV among women activists and young girls.
Later in 2018, when the community work and interest grew, we applied for legal authorisation as an association (non-profit) in Tunisia. Upon continuous ignorance to be granted status, Digital Citizenship registered as a consultancy (not for profit) in 2020.
Since its start, Digital Citizenship received funds from different international organizations and institutions (Karama, Purposeful, SecDev Foundation, Privacy International, Hivos, and others).
It operates across Tunisia and the wider MENA region to foster safer and more inclusive digital ecosystems.
