SRH Card Game Development Consultant

Term of Reference
1. Background
IPPF – The Arab World Regional Office (AWRO):
The International Planned Parenthood Federation – Arab World Region Office (IPPF AWRO) is the leading Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) service delivery organization in the North Africa and the Middle East. AWRO through its relations with 15 member association is overarching efforts to increase access to SRHR services to the most vulnerable populations including adolescents, young people, women, and men.

Scope of the consultancy:
AWRO is looking for engaging an External Consultant to develop a card game that supports players strengthening their SRH knowledge.
Under the supervision of the program director and the youth remote support officer, the consultant will build an information testing game that uses Verified global accredited SRH information. The consultant will use IPPF training manual that was lately produced by Tunisia Family Planning association (ATSR) for the comprehensive sexual education (CSE) as a reference to select an amount of 200 messages and information to be used for the game.
The consultant will also be invited to lead the testing of the game with the members of Arab World Region Youth Network.
The game will be entitled (My Body – جسمي ) and elaborated by the consultant. The approach will be: Participatory, Youth Centred, Based on SRHR themes (Available in ‘It’s All One Curriculum’).
2. Objectives of the Consultancy:
• To review IPPF’s ‘It’s All One Curriculum’ and selecting units for the creation of a SRH Card Game,
• To finalize the SRH Card Game that is based on IPPF’s ‘It’s All One Curriculum’ with its 8 units,
• To lead a session interdicting the game for the Arab World Youth Network members on the game. (Online or in a face-to-face meeting).
3. Description of Duties:
• The consult will review, select and share a list of 200 statements presenting information from the CSE’s module mentioned above,
• The consultant will develop a concept note identifying knowledge gaining mechanism through the game annexed with a detailed discerption of game process that can be also used as players’ instructions.
• The consultant should brief AWRO technical team in meetings to approve and finalize the list of the selected information/statements.
• The consultant will finalize the design of the game in addition to the guidance tool,
• The consultancy may require visiting Tunis family planning youth centre to test the game.
4. Deliverables and timelines:
The consultant should deliver after the consultancy of 10 days:
– By the first 3 days of work, the consultant shall deliver the draft concept,
– By the second 3 days of work, the consultant will deliver 150 to 200 questions from the CSE,
– By the third 4 days, the consultant shall deliver the full design of the Card Game with an explanatory tool,
– A report for the consultancy outcomes shall be provided to IPPF AWRO (after 5 days from the consultancy mission).
5. Qualifications:
The consultant should be someone who has:
• A university degree, in a related field of Public health, social science or communication,
• A confirmed experience in the theme of SRHR,
• A confirmed experience in tailoring behavioural change / advocacy communication tools preferably educative game development,
• The ability to speak in Arabic, and English. French is highly desirable.
6. Duration and conditions of the consultancy:
• The duration of the consultancy will last for 10 days with a possible extension of 2 days for any kind of preparation.
