Junior Data Scientist / Junior Data Engineer
Location: Tunis, Tunisia (on-site or hybrid)
We’re looking for a motivated junior team member who wants to grow in data engineering and data science while working with real-world datasets.
You’ll support the team in improving data quality, building reliable data pipelines, and preparing data products for analytics and ML/AI use cases.
What you will do:
• Support the processing, cleaning, normalization, and enrichment of datasets from FMCG, Retail, and E-Commerce.
• Help build and maintain data workflows and pipelines with a focus on reliability and clear documentation.
• Use Python, Pandas, PySpark, and Jupyter to create transformation logic, validation checks, and data quality reports.
• Assist with grouping, classifying, and enriching product information, including taxonomy mapping and feature preparation. • Work with senior team members to understand business requirements and turn them into practical data solutions.
• Contribute to ML/AI use cases such as classification, clustering, similarity matching, or anomaly detection under guidance.
• Follow best practices for documentation, testing, Git-based collaboration, and code reviews.
• Learn from experienced teammates and gradually take ownership of smaller data tasks and projects.
What we are looking for:
• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data science, analytics engineering, or a related field.
• Good Python skills and some hands-on experience with Pandas; PySpark experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, and data pipelines.
• Interest in working with large, messy datasets and learning performance optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with some of the following is a plus: Airflow, Dagster, data warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms, Git, or Jupyter.
• A structured and curious approach to solving problems.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and improve continuously.
• Good communication skills in English and Arabic; French is a plus.
• Bonus: Interest or basic experience in ML/AI, feature engineering, MLOps, or data quality monitoring.
